Christa and Sarah both headed to university to obtain their bachelor’s as mature students, having come from religious communities that didn’t encourage post-secondary secular education. Already on different paths of rethinking their faith, they found each other in an Anthropology class. Shortly after, they began recording Inviting Doom with the intent to unpack the harmful theological frameworks they had internalized as women raised in charismatic evangelical spaces that had come to negatively impact their lives. Having always played it safe, they finally decided to delve into the questions and ideas they had been told would invite doom into their spiritual lives and possibly even jeopardize their very souls. These episodes are an open-ended discussion of their journey out, and finding healthier ways forward.

Christa grew up in a Christian home and worked professionally in church ministry for 10 years after a bible college and ministry preparatory program. Christa now has a Bachelor’s in Health Sciences and is working for BC’s Provincial Health Services Authority.
